Our Story
We're Khalil and Acton, and welcome to Paper Wings, our little café in Leicester.
We share roots in Hong Kong, and coffee has always been at the heart of both our lives. Acton has deep family ties to WPM and has long been part of its coffee equipment manufacturing heritage, while Khalil had years of experience in the coffee industry before joining WPM, where he further developed his knowledge and experience with professional coffee equipment.
After moving nearly 6,000 miles from Hong Kong to the UK, Khalil carried on sharing his expertise, providing WPM equipment, servicing and support through Homey Koffee. So when Acton brought up the idea of opening a café in the UK, one conversation led to another. With a little Hong Kong spirit (and perhaps a shared love of dim sum) in the mix, we started wondering: what if we opened a café that served coffee with care and craft, and also offered quality equipment for home baristas and professionals, straight from our roots?
So we took the leap and put this space together: somewhere to savour a coffee at your own pace, breathe in the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and feel even the tiniest bit lighter.
That's how the name "Paper Wings Café" came to mind. It's how we think of this whole journey: something folded together by hand, in the hope it would take flight.
Even paper wings can fly, if you believe.

我哋係 Khalil 同 Acton，歡迎嚟到 Paper Wings，我哋喺 Leicester 開嘅一間小小咖啡店。
我哋都係嚟自香港，而咖啡一直都係我哋生活中好重要嘅一部分。
Acton 同 WPM 有好深嘅家族淵源，亦一直有參與咖啡器材製造方面嘅工作。而 Khalil 喺加入 WPM 之前，已經喺咖啡行業做咗好多年。之後喺 WPM 工作，令佢對專業咖啡機同咖啡器材有咗更深入嘅認識同經驗。
後來，Khalil 離開香港，去到差唔多 6,000 英里以外嘅英國。移居英國之後，佢透過 Homey Koffee 繼續分享自己對咖啡器材嘅認識，為客人提供 WPM 產品、維修同技術支援。
到 Acton 提出想喺英國開一間咖啡店，大家就開始一次又一次咁傾，慢慢將呢個想法變成一個計劃。帶住少少香港情懷（可能仲有我哋對飲茶食點心嘅喜愛），我哋開始諗：如果有一間咖啡店，既可以用心沖好每一杯咖啡，又可以將源自香港嘅優質咖啡器材介紹畀鍾意咖啡嘅朋友，無論係 Home Barista 定專業咖啡師，咁會係一個點樣嘅地方呢？
最後，我哋決定試一試，親手打造咗呢個空間。
我哋希望你嚟到呢度，可以放慢腳步，按照自己嘅節奏，好好享受一杯咖啡，聞住新鮮沖好嘅咖啡香，暫時放低生活嘅忙碌，令自己輕鬆一啲。
Paper Wings Café 呢個名，就係咁樣慢慢諗出嚟。
對我哋嚟講，呢段旅程就好似親手摺一雙紙翼。由一張紙開始，一步一步、用心咁摺好，再帶住少少希望，期待有一日佢真係可以飛起來。
只要相信，就算係紙做嘅翅膀，都一樣可以飛。
